We are a family-owned business and the only members of the Sewing Machine Trade Association (SMTA) in the area. We are known for our friendliness, honesty and excellent customer service, and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to offer you whatever your sewing machine requirements may be.
JOHN SNR and his wife, MOLLY established their business in 1946 from their premises in the ever-fashionable Brick Lane, East London area where they repaired and rebuilt industrial sewing machines for the vibrant Rag Trade. They went on to open two retail shops, one in Leyton, the other in Deptford serving the trade and trade markets.
The family first started visiting WHITSTABLE in the late 1940s to escape the hustle and bustle of East London life. They spent most of their weekends and holidays here actively taking part in the Whitstable and Tankerton Bay sailing clubs. The family relocated to the area in the early 1970’s, and in 1975 opened the shop in HARBOUR STREET where they still trade from today.
Both JOHN AND MICHAEL (FRED) served their apprenticeships and training under the expert guidance of their Dad, and have extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in the industry. He certainly left their sons well equipped to carry the business through successfully to the 21st Century.
